Business Development Manager - Academic - US

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated professional to join our Business Development and Sales Team, supporting the Academic Sector.

This is a remote position responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with universities, academic institutions, and other non-profit research organizations. The successful candidate will identify and engage with potential clients, understand their research needs, introduce GemPharmatech’s products and services, and develop tailored solutions to meet those needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, international team and play an important role in expanding GemPharmatech’s presence within the academic research community.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with universities and non-profit research institutions.

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the academic sector.

  • Present and promote GemPharmatech’s products and services with an emphasis on biomedical and translational research

  • Attend local and national conferences and events

  • Advocate for genetically engineered mouse models and their value to biomedical research

  • Collaborate with internal teams to support customer needs and business development initiatives.

  • Help expand and strengthen GemPharmatech’s academic customer network.

Key Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Biology, Pharmacy, or a related field, with overseas study experience required

  • Knowledge and experience with genetically engineered mouse models desired

  • Experience selling to academic research institutions preferred. Experience in translational research also preferred

  • Masterful selling skills that result in strong, trusting customer relationships

  • Skilled in conducting business and sales presentations with scientific rigor

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills; Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; comfortable working with internal resources to achieve sales growth, including but not limited to R&D, product management, marketing, project management, production and quality assurance

  • Passionate about biomedical research, enjoy working in a start-up environment and is self-motivated

  • Sensitive to social, economic and cultural differences.

  • Mandarin speaking is preferred
